RACEVIEW came within a whisker of pulling off a major upset in Saturday's Steel and Sons Cup first round.
Jason Cairns' side took Harland and Wolff Welders – last season's Interim League champions – to extra-time at Broughshane before eventually going down 4-3.
Meanwhile, back on domestic matters, Clough Rangers Athletic claimed their first victory of the season on Saturday, but Portglenone are still awaiting their first points in the Michelin Athletic Club-sponsored league championship.
Junior Divisions One and Two kicked off on Saturday and with a couple of games planned for Division Three Saturday will see action across the board.

Tuesday, August 25 – Intermediate League: Rasharkin United v Portglenone; Raceview v Clough Rangers Athletic.
INTERMEDIATE LEAGUE
Ballycastle United 3, Clough Rangers Athletic 6: Clough took the lead on the 5th minute after Andy Logan converted a penalty then a second penalty in the game saw Darren McKillop equalise for Ballycastle on the 13th minute.
Ballycastle then took the lead after Karl Fenton scored on the 28th minute but Gary Hamilton equalised for Clough on the 30th minute.
Ballycastle went in front again after Darren McKillop scored his second goal on the 50th minute but Clough came back with Andy Logan converting a second penalty on the 60th minute.
Logan than made it a hat-trick of penalties on the 67th minute and Ballycastle had their keeper sent off for a professional foul. Time was then running down when Adie McDonald and Gary Hamilton scored for Clough on the 80th and 88th minutes.
Portglenone 1, Kilbride Swifts 3: Kilbride took the lead on the 5th minute and than doubled their lead on the 22nd minute.
Portglenone pulled a goal back after Camile Fetela scored on the 35th minute and had a couple of chances to score before Kilbride sealed the win through a penalty kick on the 88th minute.

STEEL & SONS CUP ROUND ONE
Raceview 3, Harland & Wolff Welders 4 (aet): The Welders went two goals clear after Marty Verner and Jamie Bell scored on the 19th and 28th minute.
Raceview came back strongly and got back on level terms after Alistair Forsythe and David Tennant scored on the 29th and 32nd minutes.
Raceview then went in front on the 53rd minute after Mark Ritchie scored but Marty Verner scored the equaliser for the Welders on the 58th minute.
No more goals were scored in normal time then in the second minute of extra time Marty Verner completed his hat-trick which was hotly disputed by Raceview who claimed the ball was out of play but the goal stood to win the game.
Other results: Ballynure OB 0, Glentoran II 4; Rasharkin United 1, Grove United 4 (aet).
JUNIOR DIVISION ONE
Chimney Corner Reserves 4, Newtownabbey Sevens 5: Goals were certainly the order of the day in this game and goals scored by Jamie Hunter and James Jackson on the 6th and 14th minute saw the Corner two goals clear.
The Sevens came back strongly with two goals scored by Rab Steele and Gordon Baird on the 44th and 47th minute then two more scored by Michael Titterington on the 63 and 68th minutes.
Corner came back and goals scored by James Jackson and Philip Agnew on the 82nd and 84th minute saw then on level terms until Dave Regan snatched the winner for the Sevens on the 86th minute.
