Cashjumping continues at the Meadows Centre

As the early morning mist began to rise, a crisp autumn air greeted riders at the Meadows Equestrian Centre as their autumn winter schedule continued.

In the first competition of the day, the cross poles, three stars of the future took to the main arena onboard their pony pals, to set the standard for the day with three beautiful clear rounds.

As the height of the fences began to increase, so too did the level of show jumping on display, with many of the young riders clearing the John McKeown designed course. Clears from Ella Herron, Elizabeth McCracken and Sophie Hanna ensured the winning rosettes once again had safe homes to go to.

The introduction of small fillers for the 50cms proved to be bothersome for some riders with only Ella Herron with Prancing Queen achieving a clear round. In addition to the numerous young riders in attendance at the Meadows, many seasoned professionals also used the October sun to bring out their youngsters starting their training for the 2016 season.

In the 60cms Magherafelt man Paul Tang was one of several riders using the facilities at the Meadows to full use, bringing forward his four year old ‘NEAT National Treasure’ to his first show. Continuing their recent run of success in the arena, Charlotte McCracken also cleared the course with her grey pony ‘Starlight Silver Express’.

The first CJI winner of the day was Thea Walsh, picking up £10 when she stopped the clock at 44.81 with ‘Corbally Paris’ ahead of Taylor McKnight with Candy Pops.

This was followed in the 80cms with a double clear from Sarah Clarke and Sunrise in the pony category. Sarah’s winning ways continued in the 90cms with yet another double clear in the 90cms, in the horse section Lisa Torrens with Catalina Island. The 1m saw ‘Teluel’ ridden by Robyn McFadden take the win and also receive £10 in the process.

Cash jumping and unregistered classes continues for the next two weeks at the Meadows, with the 3rd leg of their TRI Interschools Series taking place on Saturday 14th November.
