Laurel View Bridget and Diane Sefton pick up a second in the first class

ENTRIES exceeded expectations at the first Combined Training Competition held at Laurel View in recent years.

Competitors had the choice to opt for show jumping or dressage only, but most took the challenge and competed in both disciplines to see how they ranked in the combined class.

Places and rosettes were awarded for performance in the individual disciplines, as well as the rosettes and prizes for the combined competition, so many competitors lifted multiple ribbons for their efforts.

Topping the PC D Level Dressage test was Sophie McGuckin on Joey. The Show Jumping winner over the 30cm course went to Teri McAllister on Molly. When all the points were calculated it was Joey and Sophie McGuckin that took the top spot in the combined class, with Diane Sefton and Laurel View Bridget securing second place.

Prelim 7 for Class 3 contenders and picking up the best score and red rosette was Abi Gill and Guinness. Katie McClay and Penny jumped clear over the 60cm course fastest taking the top jumping slot. But when the scores were amalgamated it was Abi and Guinness that edged ahead to collect for the combined class, with Katie and Penny second.

MJI Wendy and Joanne Jarden picked up an excellent score riding Prelim 19 earning first place in Class 4 dressage. Over the 80cm course it was Emma Fleming and Indian Sky that earned a red ribbon. When the points were put together Joanne Jarden and MJI Wendy won the combined class, with Lisa Dundee and Annie taking home second.

Class 5 and Novice 37 was the test for the Dressage competitors, taking first again was Joanne Jarden, this time on MJI Dynamis. The jumping was over a 90cm course and the winner was Nuala McNally on Song of Charm. After the points were totted up it was Shane Belton and Flynn that took home the combined top prize for Class 5, with Joanne Jarden and MJI Dynamis settling for second.
