Connell Hill winter schedule gets underway
CONNELL Hill have prepared a jam packed schedule for the upcoming Winter months, with events to cover all spheres of the equestrian sport. Sunday 30th September kicked it all off with the start of our £1000 Derby league.
The first Derby qualifier proved to be a very busy and exciting day for all with some spectacular jumping throughout the classes. As always the course was challenging but inviting with the 60 and 70cms entrants competing over 16 fences for a place in the jump off.
Patch gave Julie McLernon a great ride in the 60cms jump off earning them a worthy 1st place, with Hannah Thompson and Sophie taking a very respectful 2nd place.
Cerys Howell successfully guided her pony Captain Morgan over the varied jumps in the first round of the 70cms class then went on to perform the fastest clear in the timed jump off, with Wendy Anderson and Cosmic Chaos in close competition taking 2nd place.
As the fences rose so did the excitement with the 80cms class seeing Aaron Hamilton go hell for leather on Sparky closely contested by little Brigid Delargy on her nifty pony J.Lo.
Kara Mills was pipped to the post in the 90cms class when Georgia Kelly rode a superb round on her relatively new pony Mystery Boy.
Then came the 1m Jump off where spectators held their breath as Louise Anderson sped into pole position and was elated to gain her red rossette on Forest Jump.

Next on Connell Hill’s busy agenda is New 12 week Friday night jumping league, a dressage day scheduled to be held on Sunday 7th September, with the SJI Horse league continuing each Saturday. The SJI Pony League will continue from Sunday 14th with its final now scheduled for Sunday 4th November.
