Gold rush at Omagh RDA showjumping league final

THE final leg of the Omagh RDA showjumping league took place recently, with many of its competitors walking away with their ‘Olympic’ gold medals.

In true Olympic fashion, the league also had a teams’ competition running throughout for both junior and senior teams. For the first time in Olympic history the gold team medals were shared between two teams, when both ‘The Smurfs’ and ‘Fermanagh Flyers’ rode impeccable clear rounds throughout the four-week league, to ensure gold medals all round.

The seniors were a much tighter contest which saw two teams down to the wire to decide on the Gold medallists. This time it was the ‘Tyrone Tigers’ who narrowly took the gold, just in front of the Silver medallists the ‘Lakeland Lovelies’.

Omagh RDA are indebted to Omagh Sports Forum for their support with this league and thank them for all assistance that the RDA have received.

Omagh RDA would like to thank all who took part over the weeks, thanks also are extended to the hard working judges, Frances Monteith, Alison Monteith and Marie Christine Scott. Thanks also to course designer Mr John Chambers for designing the courses throughout, to Maureen Bogle and Jacqueline Forsythe for taking the entries and to all the hard working volunteers for running the kitchen as well as those who presented rosettes and acted as starters for the duration.

The next event organised by Omagh RDA is the Christmas Craft fair on 1st December 2012, taking place in 1st Omagh Presbyterian Church Hall from 10.30am.

Numerous stalls have already been confirmed, further details will be released soon. Following this it is the RDA Christmas Show on 15th December.

As always Omagh RDA are in need of volunteers. Presently several vacancies are available for daytime rides on Wednesday and Friday mornings. For further details please contact group organiser Chris on 0770919 9474 or the centre on 028 82 245 277.
