THE first of the three qualifiers of the Half Bred Horse Breeders Society Three Year Old Loose Jumping Competition took place at Mossvale Equestrian Centre on Tuesday 13 November in front of a large crowd. The judges for the evening were Catherine and her father Roy Thornton. The society was very grateful to them for giving up their time and so generously supporting this event.

Marks were close in the final and Martin McCabe headed this impressive line up to take first place with his Beach Ball gelding out of a mare by Porche.

Results as follows:

1, Martin McCabe’s gelding by Beach Ball out of a mare by Porche.

2, Brian Livingston’s filly by Balou Du Rouet out of a mare by Limmerick and Thomas McClean’s gelding by Colin Diamond out of a mare by Little Interest.

4, Desmond Mackey’s gelding by Ustinov out of a mare by Ekstein.

5, David Nelson’s filly by Lux Z out of a mare by Ghareeb.

6, Alan Hylands filly by Sempers Spirit out of a mare by Ard VDL Douglas

7, Dean Bell’s filly by Ustinov out of a mare by Don Juan de la Bouverie.

8, Brian Livingston’s filly by Metropole out of a mare by Porche and Lionel Johnston’s filly by Sir Adam 1V out of a mare by Creative Plan.

10, Lionel Johnston’s gelding by Adam 1V out of a mare by Dancing Boy.

11, John Reid’s filly by Sempers Spirit out of a mare by Sambesi.

The second qualifier took place at Connell Hill on Tuesday 20th November. Results will appear next week.

The third qualifier will take place at Kernans Equestrian Centre on Tuesday 27th November.

The final of the three year old loose jumping will take place at Danescroft, Lisburn, on Wednesday 5th December, the prize fund is in excess of £1,000.

An auction will be held on this evening to raise funds towards expenses for this event.
