Launch of 2016 Curragh Thoroughbred Trail

The 2016 Curragh Thoroughbred Trail, which takes place before racing on Sunday 11th September, as part of Longines Irish Champions Weekend, has been launched, with a ninth trail added to cope with the demand for places.

The 2015 Curragh Thoroughbred Trail sold out weeks in advance.

Details of the individual trails have been released and racegoers can choose their own trail at the time of booking online at http://www.curraghhospitality.com/icw/trail.html.

The Curragh Thoroughbred Trail, supported by Irish Thoroughbred Marketing will see some of Ireland’s leading trainers taking part, including Dermot Weld, John Oxx, Adrian Keatley, Willie McCreery, Michael O’Callaghan, Johnny Murtagh and Michael Halford. The world famous Irish National Stud, Kildangan Stud, the Racing Academy and Centre for Education (RACE), the Irish Farrier School and some of the top equine hospitals are some of the other locations which can be visited.

Trail Options: Trail 1 - Dermot Weld (at Old Vic Gallop), Alan Fleming, Liseux Stud; Trail 2 - Michael O’Callaghan, James Nash, Dick Brabazon; Trail 3 - Adrian Keatley, Martin Brassil, RACE/Farrier School; Trail 4 - Johnny Murtagh, John Feane, Anglesey Lodge Equine Hospital; Trail 5 - Willie McCreery, Darren Bunyan, Irish National Stud; Trail 6 - Tracey Collins, Michael Halford, Kildangan Stud, Trail 7 - Sandra Hughes, Eddie Harty, Brendan Duke: Trail 8 - John Oxx (at Little Curragh Gallop), Ken Condon, RACE/Farrier School; Trail 9 - Kevin Prendergast, Tracey Collins, Sycamore Lodge Equine Hospital

Registration opens at 8.30am in the main entrance of the racecourse with complimentary refreshments available courtesy of Irish Thoroughbred Marketing. The trails start at 9.30am sharp, finishing at approximately 12.30pm.

Places for each trail will be limited to 50 people and trails will be filled on a first-come-first-served basis and each trail will visit three locations during the morning. All proceeds from the Thoroughbred Trail will be donated to horse racing charities.
