After four weeks of competition, Kilkeel and District Riding Club concluded their Spring Show Jumping League with an intense final on Friday 8th May 2015.

Despite inclement conditions club members cheered as the youngest member Andrew Hanna claimed victory winning not only the Beginner Class on the night but also the entire league on Trigger. The happy chap went home with a beautiful bronze horse head trophy as well as a head collar and lead rope.

Charley Hanna on Hazy jumped their hearts out to win both the Junior Intermediate and Open classes on the night. Her consistency paid off over the four weeks as she became overall winner of the Junior Intermediate and Junior Open classes in the league.

Charley won the Silver cup for the Junior Intermediate along with a beautiful rug and the R. Laffin Shield in the Junior Open along with a lovely Numnah.

Competition was tough for the seniors with three qualified members competing for first place in the Senior Intermediate and Senior Open classes.

After a night of tight and speedy jump off rounds the club’s newest member Caroline Harper proved she was no novice by claiming victory in both classes.

Caroline received the Mourne Equestrian Cup from Charlie Wilson for her victory in the Senior Open on Mrs Muffin and a horse trophy for her triumph in the Senior Intermediate also on Mrs Muffin.

Jason Hanna gave his best to claim second place on Trigger in both classes, narrowly missing the red ribbons in the overall league placings.

Melissa McBurney on Darraghs Bounty was in a similar position taking third place overall in Senior Intermediate and Open classes as well.

The club wishes to thank competitors and spectators for their support during the league and special thanks to Charlie Wilson for the use of his facilities.
