Following on from the success of the previous show jumping clinic, Carryduff Equestrian on Sunday 15 November 2015 hosted another clinic with instructor Robert Murdy from Co Cavan.

Robert is an FEI level 2 coach and competes at Grand Prix and Puissance level; he also produces horses from novice to Grand Prix standard.

The friendly livery yard situated on the outskirts of Belfast made good use of its all-weather 60 x 40 flood lit outdoor arena with six group lessons throughout the day and into the evening.

Instruction was tailored to suit all abilities from complete novice to experienced riders. However, no one escaped the basics, with Robert ensuring that all riders could master the poles on the ground before progressing to appropriate heights of fences. A strong focus was on how the rider jumped and not what they jumped. Robert rode some of the novice horses to help inspire confidence in their riders.

The clinic was a success for all 28 participants which included liveries at the yard and riders from outside, with instant improvements easy to see during the lessons.

Organisers wish to thank Mandy and Alastair Boal for the use of their superb facilities and to photographer Eddie Catherwood who was on hand to capture all the action.
