The countdown is on for the annual Saintfield Christmas Charity Ride to be held on Saturday, December 5, from Saintfield Livestock Mart, by permission of Brian and Geoffrey Murphy.

Now into it’s ninth year the annual event is famous throughout Ireland with riders coming to take part from all over the province.

Event organiser Joan Cunningham, ride organiser, is delighted that North Down Marquees has renewed it’s sponsorship for the 2015 ride.

Joan explained: “The sponsorship provided by North Down Marquees is vital to the ride. We are greatly honoured to be associated with this very prestigious company which is highly renowned for exceptional solutions for corporate and sporting events, weddings and exhibitions.”

Alastair McIlveen of North Down Marquees said the company is “delighted” once again to support what he described as a “unique festive spectacle that just keeps getting bigger and better”.

The day starts at 11am with everyone arriving at the mart for a mulled wine and mince pie reception. At noon the santas move out led by the real Santa in his magnificent horse drawn carriage. At 1pm approximately Saintfield Main Street will be filled with santas. Live music from Panache will add to the atmosphere and comedian Terence McKeag will be there to keep everyone entertained.

The horse drawn carriage will stop at the Christmas tree where Santa will alight accompanied by his celebrity guests to meet and greet everyone.

The ride will then make its way back to the mart where lunch will be served and Santa will be on hand to take the children’s list.

Prizes will be presented in all age groups to the best dressed Santas. Great prizes are up for grabs for whoever raises the most sponsorship money.

Entrance to the marquee is free and anyone wanting to have lunch can do so for a donation of £5. Children free.

The ride is strictly a hack and suitable for all riders which costs £20 for adults and £10 for children which includes the mulled wine reception and lunch.
