Jump Cross Challenge was the name of the game recently at Laurel View.

To enlighten those that didn’t make it this meant a good mix up of fences, a few extra jump efforts and the option of the cross fence. Clearing the cross fence either deducted four faults, or took one second off the time if a clear round had been completed.

Most were up for the challenge, for some the gamble paid off better than others.

On top of the extra fun of the cross fence challenge, clear rounds earned the competitor £2 cashback and winners redeemed their entire entry fee if class numbers were sufficient.

A great afternoon of show jumping fun and a competition that it is planned to repeat on Sunday, March 13.

First win of the day went to Roberta Bradbury and Molly who topped off a 50cm clear round with a clear leap over the cross fence.

Lexi and Alison Larkham win the 90cm and are runner up in the 80cm.

In the 60cm class Donna Dawson and Duffy clearing the cross fence made all the difference, when the four faults they had picked up on the way round were deducted, leaving them finishing clear and fast enough to beat Victoria Graham and Spiffy into second place.

Over the 70cm Sasha Wilson’s horse was well named, as Sasha and Prepare for Glory romped home in the quickest time, not putting a hoof wrong.

Upwards to the 80cm and once again the cross fence option worked in the winners favour as Patricia Feeney and Ricos Patience eradicated their four faults to win the class.

Over the 90’s fences there was not a clear round in sight, but the cross fence was successfully taken by Alison Larkham and Lexi to remove four faults leaving them in the top spot.

Last but by no means least was the metre class and again the clear round was elusive, but clearing the cross fence reversed the position putting the red ribbon in the hands of Lara Rossi and Millie Mae.

Can’t wait until March 2016 for some jumping action, then why not come along to Laurel View on Wednesday evenings for the Pounds for Points Show Jumping. Details of this and the many other activities at Laurel View can be found at www.laurelview.co.uk
