The Donkey Sanctuary will be holding a series of Donkey Care Courses throughout Northern Ireland in 2015.

The first of these courses will commence on the 4th April at The Donkey Sanctuary (DAT Therapy Centre) in Templepatrick.

Additional courses will be held on the 6th June in Victoria Bridge, Strabane and at The Donkey Sanctuary (DAT Centre) on the 29th August.

These courses combine the latest about caring for donkeys with practical hands on experience and are a great introduction to the wonderful world of donkeys!

Donkeys are not merely small horses with big ears and there is so much to learn about the difference between caring for donkeys and horses that attending a course is always an eye opener.

The days are designed for current donkey owners as well as those considering donkey ownership. The Donkey Sanctuary also runs a scheme to ‘foster’ donkeys and the course will also help potential foster owners decide if donkeys are suitable for them and what to expect when they arrive and to feel more confident about looking after and handling donkeys.

The course will cover pasture and stable management, signs of health/ill health, grooming, handling, feeding and weight maintenance, routine treatments and the interesting topic of the origins of the donkey.
