Santas at Saintfield

Waiting for Video...

CROWDS of Spectators and well wishers from all over Northern Ireland flocked to the town of Saintfield to see one of the most spectacular sights.

Hundreds of Santa’s on horse back paraded through the town led by two horse drawn carriages, one of which carried the “Real Santa Claus”.

Santa’s came from all over the province to take part in this amazing ride to help raise funds for underprivileged children in Uganda and Rwanda. Panashe provided the live Christmas Music and carol singing at the Christmas tree while comedian Terence McKeag kept everyone in stitches with his craic until the Santa’s appeared.

Ride organiser Joan Cunningham, who led the Parade through the town, said: “I couldn’t believe my eyes when we approached the town hill in Saintfield and saw the masses of people there to welcome us.

“I was so overwelmed it brought tears to my eyes.

“Myself and the rest of the team want to thank North Down Marquees, our major sponsor, Brian and Geoffrey Murphy for allowing us the use of their fantastic premises, the UFU Saintfield Branch, George Fawcett,The Bank of Ireland, Jacksons of Saintfield,R.W.Massey Paint Shop, Gordons Chemist, McBride Fashions, the ladies who did such a great job catering for everyone, the media plus every person who sponsored or helped in any way to make the whole event such a brilliant success.”
