Smyth lands third win at Enniskillen Show

Enniskillen's annual Horse and Pony Show took place at Necarne Castle on Saturday, June 18. The weather was kind, leaving all arenas perfect underfoot for non-stop jumping and showing throughout the day.

One of the highlights in the showjumping rings was the 1.35m, as part of the TRI Ulster Region Summer Tour, sponsored by Fermanagh & Omagh District Council.

Competition was fierce over the John Chambers designed course and Peter Smyth rode Hilary Duncan’s Diamond Courage into winning position, making it the third year in sucession that Peter has won the top jumping class at the show.

Show chairman Desmond Rolston presented the Mavis Rolston Perpetual Memorial Cup on behalf of the Enniskillen Show.

In the pony jumping rings, course designer Ian Monteith was kept busy with a total of 13 different competitions run over the course of the day.

Entries were up in the showing rings, with big entry numbers in both pony and horse ridden classes.

The Alex Presho Memorial Perpetual Shield, which was kindly provided by Louise Presho in memory of Alex was won by Eimer White. Alex was a dedicated horseman and a long term supporter of the show.

Desmond Rolston, Show Chairman said: “We are indebted to all our sponsors who have supported us and made the show possible, and to all the competitors who have competed here today. We are delighted that the show has gone so well and that everyone enjoyed the facilities and competition.”
