Laurelview Equestrian Centre outside Templepatrick is the venue for four of the 28 RDA groups in Northern Ireland.
The venue has fantastic facilities which include two indoor schools and a club room, not to mention a ready supply of suitable ponies.
RDA sessions take place at Laurelview on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 10-11am and Tuesday evenings from 6-7pm. Antrim, Ballyclare, East Antrim and Laurelview groups all have a very dedicated bunch of willing helpers however recently numbers have fallen and they would be delighted to welcome some new faces.
You don’t need to be “horsey” to help out. Help is also needed with IT and people who would be willing to serve on the committee or assist with administration would be an added bonus.
For anyone who does wish to be involved with the ponies, all training will be provided and anyone from 16 years of age can volunteer.
As one of the current volunteers says: “It is good to see our riders’ progression and to see them enjoying riding the ponies. The social side of RDA is very important to me, it is great fun!”
