Capall Riding Club

CAPALL Riding Club held a fun night recently, with horses and riders turning up to take part in a handy hunter competition.
There were many varied obstacles, including a dressed-up dummy sporting a false face that the horses had to pass, and a wall that riders had to dismount on to before remounting. This proved more challenging than expected, much to the amusement of the spectators who gave a lot of encouragement and outside assistance to the riders!
Many thanks go to Robin who designed the course and Stephanie who helped him build it, and also to Stanley Law who judged, ably assisted by Anne as scribe.

Riders recently took part in working hunter training.
Horses and riders turned up prepared for competition and the trainer for the evening, Catherine Abbot, took them through all aspects of the competition and what was expected of them in each phase. Riders completed a course of jumps and the showing phase, including the run up. Catherine then talked everyone through how they had performed, what judges would be looking for, and any areas for improvement.
