Organisers of the Northern Ireland International Horse Show have confirmed that gold medal winning Olympian Laura Kraut will be competing in this year's event.
Fresh from success in Beijing as part of the USA showjumping team, Kraut will be competing at the Odyssey Arena, Belfast, along with a host of other International Equestrian Stars.
She was last year's overall winner at the Horse Show and event organ
isers are delighted that she has been able to return to Belfast.
Joe Sloan, President of the Northern Ireland International Horse Show, said: "It is fantastic to have Laura coming to the show, she was a superb competitor last year taking first prize at the Grand Prix. It gives the other riders the opportunity to compete against a gold medallist and for spectators to witness a gold medal Olympian in action.
"The fact that Laura has included the Northern Ireland International Horse Show in her schedule speaks volumes for the credibility of the show."
News that Kraut will be competing added to the list of other attractions featuring in this year's schedule has given the show a boost as it aims to draw in it's biggest crowd to date.
With over 17,000 people enjoying the show last year, organisers are hoping to attract an even larger audience.
Mr Sloan added: "Last year's show was such a success we've pulled out all the stops to make sure 2008 will be a show to remember.
"We saw more people attend the National Qualifiers this year than ever before, the interest in the show has been incredible."
Former Miss Northern Ireland and Blue Peter presenter Zoe Salmon was joined by International showjumper Tim Stockdale as the show was officially launched last month and with just two weeks before the first day anticipation is rapidly building.
The Show includes a variety of acts including world famous 'Pignon' and his dancing horses, Crufts Champion Kate Hardman with 'Spice', The Cossacks adventurous display of dramatic equestrian skills, the Pony Club games with young stars from all over the U.K. and the new 'One Star Invitational' which is attracting riders from all over the globe.
The five National Qualifiers which were held at Mullingar, Boswell, Barnadown, Tattersalls and Balmoral gave the local equestrian talent its chance to shine and it was no surprise that entry levels were the highest to date with an impeccable standard of equestrian talent on show from all classes.
