WITCHES, Ghosts and Skeletons came out for the Halloween Show at Laurel View and that was before the fancy dress competitors turned up.
Thankfully the seasonally decorated jumps didn't spook any horses too seriously, just enough to make things interesting.
First prize winners went home with a little something extra thanks to NAF who had generously donated products for prizes.
The first winner of the day was Amy Neill on Pippa in the Novice Pony class. Taking home the red rosette in the Open Pony class was Charlotte Smylie.
Roberta Bradbury and Simon Wylie were the number one pair in the relay class riding Molly Dancer and What a Wizard respectively.
Moving onto the Horses it was Alice Wilson and Callie who came out on top in the Novice Horse with Shane Belton and Flynn taking the accolade in the Open Horse class. Leaving Simon Wylie and What a Wizard to clock up the most points in the Top Score Class.
Lauren Hamill and Harry were delighted to win the Family Pony Lead Rein obstacle course, while Kirsten Davis and Matilda did it on their own in the Unassisted class. Kirsty Gildea handled Peggy beautifully to seize 1st place in the Young Handler Class.
Leading the way in the Cradle Stakes Lead Rein class was Charlotte Smylie on Maxy, while in the Unassisted Cradle Stakes it was Lauren Gordon and Hazel who claimed the top spot.
Many of the competitors had gone to a lot of trouble dressing themselves and their steeds in a wide variety of Fancy Dress, but it was Eve Butler and Dante that caught the judges eye and went home with the red rosette.
Show Jumping League
Week 3 of the 6 week show jumping league at Laurel View saw another excellent turnout of competitors.
Paul Tang and Eve made their first appearance in the league taking 1st in the 60cm class, while Katie McClay and Penny managed to improve their previous ranking to take 1st in the 70cm class.
Mr Big and Chris Megahey notched up 1st in the 80cm class, then in the 90cm Janie Cairns and Apache took home the red rosette. Top in the metre class was Claudia Knoll and Peter.
The Pairs Class is always great fun, the winning team on the night were Roberta Bradbury and Simon Wylie riding Molly and What a Wizard respectively.
The league continues until Wednesday 11th November, so there are still plenty of opportunities to qualify to compete for the League prizes, each Wednesday evening starting at 6pm with the 60cm going through to the metre class.
Indoor Derby League & Rocklynn Team Jumping Derby
November will be packed with action thanks to the Indoor Derby League starting on Sunday 1st November. Apart from the individual competition cash prizes at the end of the league (£2 from each entry going into the pot), there is the opportunity to win prizes as part of a team in the Rocklynn Team Jumping Derby. Teams qualify by competing as required throughout the league to see which team then jumps best at the final on Sunday 22nd November, a great array of prizes have been donated by sponsors Old Mill Saddlery, Doagh Farm Feeds and CR Supplies. £1 from each entry will be going to Rocklynns chosen charity the Roddensvale School in Larne. So coax some friends to help you make a team and come along to join in the fun and raise money for this very worthwhile charity. More information can be found on the schedule.
