Irish Champion trainer Aiden O'Brien provided a masterclass in collecting group and classic races at the weekend at Irish racing headquarters, writes RON McKNIGHT.
The Ballydoyle trainer saddled seven winners on Saturday followed by a hat trick on Sunday.
Henrythenavigator completed the English/Irish 2000gns double when again relegating New Approach to the runner up spot.
Aiden O'Brien highlighted his attention to detail when the colt got upset in the saddling area and appeared not to want to go through the arch into the paddock.
The Ballydoyle maestro spotted the problem that a lump of froth from the horse's mouth had flew back and lodged in the horse's ear and quickly remedied the situation prior to entering the paddock prior to success.
Halfway to Heaven completed the brace of Irish classics for O'Brien at the Curragh when landing the Irish 1000gns for fillies while Duke Of Marmalade (Tattersalls Gold Cup], Hebridean (Gallinule Stakes] and Astronomer Royal (Greenlands Stakes] were another trio of group winners last weekend. A decision is expected later this week if Henrythevavigator will contest the Epsom Derby next month.
