Two local charities, the Southern Area Hospice and Ulster Cancer Foundation, are set to benefit from the proceeds of Banbridge Show which takes place at Riffle Park, Newry Road, Banbridge on Saturday, June 14.
The show is being organised by Iveagh Showjumpers with support from Banbridge Council and, thanks to the generosity of a large number of sponsors, a prize fund in excess of £5,000 is up for grabs.
Details were announced by Iveagh Showjumpers during
recent a press conference hosted by Banbridge Council at their Downshire Road Headquarters.
Welcoming the continuation of the show, which made its reappearance two years ago after an absence of almost 40 years, council chairman, Councillor John Hanna expressed his delight at being involved with this sporting venture which he hoped would, once again, bring many visitors north and south to the district of Banbridge.
In reply, Ray Buchanan, chairman of the organising body, the Iveagh Showjumpers, paid tribute to the co-operation which he had received from Banbridge Council, its members and officials.
He said that this year's show would build on the success of previous years, making it a tremendous promotional opportunity for the district as well as providing a great sporting spectacle and an enjoyable family occasion.
He said that, thanks to the very generous sponsorship which his Committee had secured from over 40 local businesses, a prize fund of around £5,000 will be available on the day.
Three arenas will be in operation, starting at 9am, and catering for most of the usual registered classes.
Arena One will host the pony classes starting at 9.00am with an Under 8/Under 10 class plus all the usual classes (except 128D & 138D).

Please note that entries for the first class in each arena will close 30 mins after the start of the class.
However, the day is not all about showjumping and there will be a variety of side shows to ensure that all families present, plus their pooches, will have plenty to keep them occupied.
There will be a dog show at 2pm with classes for: the dog with the waggiest tail, cutest dog, dog most like its owner and the dog which can do the best trick. There will also be pony rides, a bouncy castle, face painting and lots of fun and games.
A carnival atmosphere is guaranteed and it is hoped that families from far and wide will come to enjoy the occasion and to support these two very worthwhile causes.
