21 Holstein bulls to come under the hammer at Kilrea

Catalogues are available for the Holstein NI bull sale at Kilrea Mart on Tuesday, December 6.

The pre-sale show is generously sponsored by United Feeds, and will be judged by Conor Casey from the Carnhill Herd based at Cloughmills. Judging commences at 11.00am, and the sale will get underway at noon.

Auctioneer Mark Stewart said: “There are 21 bulls on offer ranging in age from April 2015 to November 2015. They are tested (negative PI) and vaccinated for BVD.”

Herds represented in the catalogue include: Ards, Beechview, Cluntagh, Derrydorragh, Hilltara, Inch, Killane, Kurin, Majestic, Prehen and Relough. They are sons of leading AI bulls such as Mr Moviestar Mardi Gras, Bryceholme SS Boastful, Maple Downs IGW Atwood, Seagull Bay Silver, Richmond KD EL Bombero, De-Su BKM McCutchen, Bryhill Science, De-Du Nirvana, Picston Shottle, Coyne Farms Jabir, Pirolo Solemio, Stantons Pulsar, Cogent Supershot, Apina Norman, Sandy Valley Caspian, Huijben DG Buick, and NI-bred bulls Inch Mascalese and Killane Kaito.

Mark Stewart added: “The catalogue offers something for everyone, with bulls backed by up to 14 generations of VG and EX dams, and nine straight generations of EX. They are bred from high yielding and high component cow families.”
