Around 400 people attended the ABP Charity Ball held on Friday 6th February in the Canal Court, Newry.

Over £45,000 was raised for Alzheimer’s Society NI at the event which was organised by management and staff from ABP Food Group’s plants in Lurgan and Newry.

Guests were welcomed by Ms Claire Duffy who spoke movingly of the distress and pain of family and friends of those suffering with this frightful disease.

Ms Bernadine McCrory, regional director, Alzheimer’s Society paid tribute to the efforts of ABP staff in the organisation of the evening and stressed the importance of funding in the fight against the illness. The video clearly demonstrated the progressive nature of the condition and the steps that others can take to assist sufferers.

During the evening renowned violinist Patricia Tracey provided a beautiful musical back drop to the meal. A grand auction and raffle conducted by compere for the evening Adrian Logan created fantastic bidding adding greatly to the success of the night.

Liam McCarthy from ABP thanked colleagues Seamus Kenny and Roger Sheahan, managers in Lurgan and Newry, for their financial support and credited the success of the evening to the persistence and determination of Claire Duffy and staff of ABP Newry and Lurgan

Music on the night was by ”The Professionals”.
