Best trade of Autumn at Rathfriland Co-op

A full yard of cattle on Friday saw 191 weanlings sell in one of the best trades of the Autumn.

Undoubtedly, quality was excellent with several farmers averaging from 230p/k to over 240p/k. A Banbridge farmer reached 287.6p/k for a 226k Ch male at £650 with a second lot weighing 260k @ £725 or 279p/k. A Newry farmer sold 230k Ch male at £655 or 285p/k. A top price of £925 was paid for a 404k male from Maze with females to £795 for 378k Ch from Downpatrick. A very large entry of dropped calves was also the dearest they have been in weeks. £420 was recorded twice for 2 Her bulls from Castlewellan with Her females to £345 from a Dromore farm. Bullocks reached £1210 for a 716k FCK from Ringsend. Mullaghdrin farmer sold bullocks at £1135, £1105 and £1080 for 532k each. Fat cows sold to £765 for a 672k bull from Lisduff with sucklers to £1250 for a Ballyroney farmer.

Lisburn farmer: 14 calves to £310 for an MBE bull. Downpatrick farmer: 6 MBE bulls £295, £285, £270 and £265 etc.
