Blackface female in lamb sale

The Ulster Ram Breeders' Association held their first Blackface in lamb female sale on Monday, February 13, in Ballymena Livestock Mart. With the sale ring packed out the event proved to be a great success with 22 females being sold averaging £720.

Charlie Phillips, Draperstown, received the top price of 2,600gns on the night for a two year old ewe by Crossflat McCoy scanned twins to 90 kilo Blackhouse selling to M Taggart, Glenarm.

James and Sandy Carson, Clough, sold the second highest price 1300gns a one crop ewe by £1,100 Chamberwells scanned twins to an Adams Lamb selling to Sam and Stuart Adams, Broughshane.

Mark and Russell Smyth Coleraine, sold a three crop ewe by Viewmount, scanned twins to £1,800 Craigniech to Cathal Breslin for 1,200gns.

Willard and Gavin Watson, Coleraine, sold a three crop ewe by £1,600 Viewmount scanned single to son of £4,500 Harkin selling for 1,050gns to Michael Smyth, Limavady.
