Blackstown gimmers shine at the Northern Lights sale

Texel females traded at a top price of 2500gns at the Northern Lights Sale at Hilltown, on Tuesday 30th December, with the lead price for a gimmer from James Wilson’s Blackstown Flock.

Sale leader, WWB1300469, is a daughter of the noted sire Teiglum Target and is out of a dam by Blackstown Rambo. This one, is in-lamb to Springhill V Tech, and sold to the Gallagher family.

This ewe is a very good Target daughter and the dam goes back to the great breeding Ballydonaghy ewe.

Following that, was a 2100gns bid from Henry Gamble’s Springwell flock. GRS1301215, is a daughter of the noted Cambwell Terminator LTC1201075 out of a dam Derryvore Ranger.

She was knocked down to the Fyffe family, Omagh.

John Currie’s Tullagh Flock was in the money with three Glenside Topgun daughters selling at 1900gns, 1700gns and 1250gns.

The first of these joined the Corbo flock of Adrian Liggett, with the second and third heading to the Farmhill Flock of Brian Williamson.

Following close behind at 1600gns was a gimmer from the Blackstown Flock.

This is a daughter of the noted sire Springhill Twenty Twelve and out of a dam Millcomb Powerhouse.

Full sister was 1st prize ewe lamb at NI Premier Sale 2013 and sold for 1,500gns.

This gimmer joined the Drumderg flock of Alistair Breen.

David Warwick’s Braehead flock and Springwell flock also sold gimmers at the same price too.

Braehead flock took 1600gns for a Cornerstone Tin Tin daughter which sold to the Drumderg flock. Springwell flock also took 1600gns for two gimmers, which are Drumgooland Tattoo daughters.

The first gimmer sold to the Blackstown flock, with the second gimmer selling to the Corbo flock.

Another one from the Wilson pen, a Telglum Target daughter then sold to 1400gns, with this one sired to Carnew Vagabond selling to Snowhill flock of Peter Stubbs.

James Wilson also sold another Telglum daughter at 1250gns, with this gimmer sired to Springhill V Tech selling to the Cathcart family.

Top priced empty ewe lamb sold at 680gns from the Blackstown flock.

This lamb, WWB1400576, is a daughter of Teliglum Tornado and out of a dam by Carmavy Striker and sold to the Cornerstone flock of David Simpson.

This lamb is a full sister to male champion at RUAS 2014.

Embryo pregnancies were well sought after too, peaking at 1400gns from the Mullan consignment.

This one was sired to Oberstown Usain Bolt, progeny will be full brother/sister to Mullan Vivaldi 52000gns. [Single embryo pregnancy]

Buying this was the Aiken family.

Selling at 600gns was other Mullan embryo. This one was sired by Garngour VIP, the dam is one of the Mullan’s top flush ewes and her sister was reserve champion at Ballymena 2013 and sold to 3300gns.

Her maternal sister sold the previous year at 3400gns again at Ballymena. [Single embryo pregnancy].

It found a new home at Blackstown Texels.
