Members of the YFCU recently took up the challenge to capture an image that would scoop them a prize in the association’s annual photographic competition.

Sponsored by Kevin McAuley Photography Multimedia, the theme for this year was ‘YFCU- In Their Natural Habitat’.

Entries were judged by experienced NI photographers Kevin and Steven McAuley.

The judges were impressed with the quality of photos submitted by members and how they effectively illustrated the theme.

The winning entry was by Abbie Cuddy, Castlecaulfield YFC, whose image presented a new born sheep dog surrounded by items often seen on the farm, welly boots a farmers cap and rural scenery depicted in the background, the quality and setting of the photo added to the overall atmosphere of ‘YFCU- in their natural habitat’.

Second place was awarded to Ashleigh Johnston, Collone YFC with a fresh spring image of a new born lamb with a clear sky and freshly cut grass providing a back drop. Chloe McIlwaine, Gleno Valley YFC came third displaying her sheep in the winter frost with a thin layer of snow on the ground and the bleak sky, this provided a stark contrast to the second place entry.

The YFCU would like to extend a note of thanks to Kevin and Steven McAuley for taking the time out of their busy schedule to judge the photographs and for their continued support of the association.
