History will be made at this year’s Show & Sale of Border Leicester sheep taking place at Ballymena Mart on Monday 28th September 2015.

At this evening sale almost 70 head will come under the hammer to mark the Centenary sale for the breed being held under the auspices of the Ulster Ram Breeders Association.

The first such Border Leicester sale took place on 3rd September 1915 at Robson’s Saleyard in Belfast and in the intervening period the breed has stood the test of time and experienced some highs and lows in terms of success and numbers.

Judging will be in the capable hands of Coote Geelan from the Loughrinn flock in Co Leitrim who is no stranger to pedigree and commercial sheep breeders.

The sale will again be sponsored by Danske Bank and John Henning recently attended the launch of the event when he said: “Danske Bank is delighted to continue it’s support for the URBA Border Leicester breed at their centenary show and sale and wish exhibitors and purchasers every success as they mark this important milestone.”
