Time is running out to get your entries in for this year’s Farming Life and Danske Bank awards.

As the closing date of Friday, 4th September draws nearer, Farming Life editor Ruth Rodgers is urging farmers and agri businesses to put pen to paper and be in with a chance to get recognition in the annual farming showcase which highlights excellence in agriculture.

For the second year running, the awards organisers are searching for nominations for the ‘Women in Excellence in Agriculture Award’ which aims to recognise a woman in the industry who has shown outstanding commitment and passion.

Last year’s worthy winner was Elaine Shaw, from the Northway Producer Group.

This year the award is being sponsored by Creagh Concrete.

A spokesperson from the company stated: “Creagh Concrete is delighted to be sponsoring the Women in Agriculture award.

“Last year, research showed that an increasing number of women in Northern Ireland have become farmers (BBC) with over 1300 women actually working full time in agriculture. There is ample research to show that women can really contribute to making farms a commercial success but still prefer to be in the background – it’s time now to acknowledge these women.”

Full details on all the categories and how you can enter can be found on page 12.

The awards will take place in the Ramada Plaza, Belfast on Thursday, 29th October.
