Dairy stock sold to £1310 at Markethill on Tuesday paid for a calved heifer from a Stewartstown farmer.

A Loughgall farmer received £1200 for a calved heifer. Several more sold from £870 to £1000 each.

CULL COWS: The 160 cull cows returned an exceptionally good trade with prices increased in the week, particularly fleshed Friesian cows and thin cows. Beef bred cows sold from £125 to £157 for 796k at £1250. Fleshed friesians from £105 to £122 for 788k at £965. Second quality friesians from £85 to £95 per 100 kilos and the poorest types from £60 to £80 per 100 kilos. Aged bulls from £110 to £122 per 100 kilos.

CALVES: The 255 lots in the calf ring sold in a steady demand. Bull calves (under 6 week old) sold to £330 for a whitehead. Main demand from £250 to £320 each. Heifer calves to £305 for a whitehead with all suitable lots from £200 to £285 each. Stronger Friesian bulls (over 3 months) sold from £140 to £210 each. Young Friesian bulls from £50 to £100 each.
