Danske Bank have announced their continued support of the Young Farmers’ Clubs of Ulster (YFCU) European Rally team during a celebratory lunch held at the bank’s headquarters in Belfast which was attended by YFCU and Danske Bank representatives.
YFCU European Rally team 2015, led by Roberta Simmons, Deputy President, Rathfriland YFC, comprises of Mark Gibson, Trillick YFC, Jane Kilpatrick, Donaghadee YFC, Christina McCollam, Lylehill YFC and Geoff Thompson Annaclone & Magherally YFC.
The European Rally team will travel to Upper Austria County, Austria, for the Rural Youth European Rally from Saturday 1st August to Saturday 8th August. Hosted by National Federation of Young Farmers (England and Wales), this year’s theme will be “Work hand in hand- create your land”.
During the lunch, John Henning congratulated the YFCU members who were successful in gaining a place on the European Rally team. On behalf of Danske Bank he wished them well and commented that they and Roberta would be excellent ambassadors for their clubs, the Association and Northern Ireland.
The lunch was also attended by representatives from Danske Bank’s dedicated Agribusiness team in Northern Ireland, Richard Caldwell, Head of Finance Centres, Robert McCullough, Head of Agri Business and John Henning, Head of Agricultural Relations. In attendance representing YFCU was Martyn Blair, YFCU President, Marley Ryan, Events Coordinator, YFCU Head Quarters, William Bolton, member of Curragh YFC and Ulster Young Farmer winner 2014, and Michael Reid, Chief Executive Officer.
Speaking after the lunch, John Henning, Head of Agricultural Relations, Danske Bank said: “Danske Bank is delighted to continue its long standing sponsorship of the European Rally Team which enables the YFCU to send a group of members to this year’s Rural Youth Europe gathering. This year’s team, led by Roberta Simmons, will be great ambassadors for the Association in Austria later this year. “We are proud of our Platinum Sponsorship of the YFCU and being able to support many key activities including participation in the European Rally.”

The rally will give the team the opportunity to share best practice, attend workshops and learn more about the other young farmer clubs that are attending from across Europe. They will then bring this knowledge back and share it with our members through presentations and reports.”
