Entry of 1450 sheep at Markethill sells to a firm trade

An entry of 1450 sheep at Markethill on Wednesday 16th March continued to sell in a very firm trade. There was a 100% clearance of stock.

Heavy hoggets sold to £100 each, paid twice with several ore pens from £93 to £97 each. Top rate of 378p per kg for 25.3kgs at £95.50 each. All good quality pens from 350p to 376p/kg.

Middleweight hoggets sold 424p per kg for 21 hoggets at 21.1kgs at £89.50 each. All good quality pens sold from 380p per kg to 398p per kg.

Good quality stores sold from 355p per kg to 417p per kg for 18kg at £75 each.

Cull ewe prices were firmer with heavy ewes to £115 each. Main demand from £80 to £107 each. Plainer ewes from £45 to £65 each.

A full yard of ewes and lambs sold in a stronger trade with all lots sold. Good quality doubles sold to £210 each with others from £160 to £200. Singles to £170 each with several more from £130 to £165.
