Exceptionally good trade for cattle at Markethill

An entry of 500 store cattle, weanlings and sucklers at Markethill on Saturday 6th August sold in an exceptionally good trade.

Heavy bullocks and heifers sold in the best trade for some time with local customers and exporters competing keenly for the very high quality of cattle on offer.

HEIFERS

The 170 store heifers sold in an excellent trade. Forward heifers to £1150 for 532k (216). All top quality lots from £190 to £215 for 520k at £1105. The entire entry of forward heifers averaged 550k at £1020 (185). Suitably middleweights sold from £190 to £220 for 438k at £965. Lightweight heifers sold from £200 to £222 for 360k at £800. Second quality heifers sold from £170 to £180 per 100 kilos.

Good quality Friesian bullocks sold from £137 to £153 for 588k at £900. Top price Friesian £995 for 660k (150).
