The Society of Feed Technologists held their annual conference in Northern Ireland for the first time in their 50-year history.
Their study visit was to Fane Valley Feeds mill in Omagh on 8th June where they were given an overview of the business by MD David Garrett and a guided tour of the plant.
Commenting afterwards, SFT President, David Wilde, said how impressively clean the mill was and how few operators were needed to run it.
FVF produces in excess of 250,000 tonnes per annum and the Omagh site which was opened in 2010 is one of the most modern and efficient mills in Europe.
As a matter of policy and to provide the best level of customer service, Fane Valley operates its own fleet of delivery vehicles, ensuring low cost and prompt delivery to farms across Northern Ireland and the border counties of the Republic.
David Garrett, Fane Valley Feeds Managing Director, says: “It was an honour to have been selected by the Society as the venue for their first ever annual study trip to Northern Ireland. The delegates were keenly interested in the low staffing levels in the mill, the energy saving technologies employed and its design and implementation from concept to completion. Also of interest was the smooth way in which orders are processed from placement through to production and subsequent out-loading.”
