Fermanagh Farming Society recently launched the Fermanagh Show at Ardhowen Theatre.

Mr Sean Darcy, manager of First Trust Bank, Enniskillen introduced new Bank Agri Advisor, Mr Kieran Mailey, as speaker at the event.

First Trust is the sole sponsor of the Simmental Section this year.

Kieran emphasised the important of efficiency on farms, farmers need to keep a tight eye on budgets and keep abreast of incoming trends such a global markets. The Show reception was kindly sponsored by Cavanagh Kelly Accountants and it attracted a large gathering of sponsors and friends hosted by chairman Marion Henderson who extended a warm Fermanagh welcome.

The Fermanagh County Show is celebrating winning the Farmers Guardian Show Business Award 2015 beating off stiff competition in the finals against five English Shows. Thousands of people voted for Fermanagh Show in the finals and the committee are indebted to all those exhibitors, traders, sponsors and friends for taking time to vote. Winning this award means that they are holding their own with shows across the UK.

A number of new sponsors have been introduced this year; Conor Fee Engineering, Lochside Garages, A1 Transport (NI) Euro Auctions, Natural Nutrition Ltd, Abbey Wools Ltd & Drumlin Veterinary. Prize money in the livestock classes has increased from £60 to £100 per class.

The committee invites exhibitors to show at Fermanagh on 4th and 5th August. Along with the main breed championships there is the overall Dairy, Pedigree Beef Interbreed & Commercial Champion of Champions. Brady Pharmacy Suckled Calf, Teemore Dairy Babe and Cogent Dairy Heifer Championships. The NISA/Linden Foods Pedigree Beef Heifer Championship also featuring the NI Simmentals Finals: The NI Danske Bank Male and Female Competition and the Ivomec Super Pair of the Year sponsored by Merial Animal Health. Vaughan Trust financially supports Fermanagh breeders who are encouraged to enter confined classes and championships in continental and native breeds of cattle and sheep with special bonuses in Young handlers sections.

SD Kells & Lakeland Fuels are sponsoring the Cookery section where two new crystal trophies were presented by Mallard Home Bakes. The show is hosting ISA Qualifiers in Dogs, Poultry Baking and Art.

Miss Kerri Hassard Lisbellaw CPS won the art competition for the design used on the catalogue cover sponsored by Vaughan Trust.

The Artisan Foodhall is sponsored by Danske Bank and organisers are delighted O’Doherty Fine Meats is sponsoring the Cookery Demonstrations with celebrity chefs Paula McIntyre, City Cheese, Joe Kelly Bellisle Cookery School and Lough Erne Cakes. The food stand competition is sponsored by Killyhevlin Hotel and will be judged on product presentation and knowledge and passion for business.

A short programme of events will also be published this year.
