Firmer demand for dairy stock at Markethill

Dairy stock sold in a firmer demand at Markethill on Tuesday 1st March.

A Mountnorris farmer sold a calved second calver at £1360. A Loughgall farmer sold calved heifers at £1290 and £1190. A Newry farmer sold calved heifers at £1200 and £1170. In-calf heifers sold at £1050 and £970.

CULL COWS: The 170 cull cows sold in a firm trade with all classes of Friesian cows in stronger demand. Beef-bred cows from £120 to £145 for 568k at 3825. Top price of £1145 for 912k (126). Fleshed Friesians sold from £100 to £119 for 674k at £800. Top price £905 for 860k (105). Second quality Friesians from £80 to £95 per 100 kilos and the poorest types from £55 to £70 per 100 kilos.
