Firmer trade for sheep at Markethill

An entry of 1040 sheep at Markethill on Wednesday 30th March sold in a firmer demand for fat hoggets with ewes in exceptionally strong demand.

Heavy hoggets sold from £90 to £95 each with a top of £99 each for 17 hoggets from a killylea farmer. All good quality pens sold from 350p to 379p per kilo for 25 kilos @ £94.80 each.

Good quality middleweights sold from 360p to 392p per kilo for 21.3 kilos @ £83.50 each.

Spring lambs sold from 400p to 443p per kilo for 20.3 kilos @ £90 each.

Heavy cull ewes sold to £117 each with a main demand from £85 to £115 each.

Another full yard of ewes and lambs sold in a firmer trade. Doubles sold to £218 . Main demand sold from £160 to £200 each. Good quality singles sold from £130 to £167 each.
