Just short of 1000 head of sheep on Tuesday evening at Rathfriland sold in a flying trade.

Over 200 fat ewes sold consistently to £124 per head for an Annalong farmer. In effect 88 fat ewes sold at over £100 each. The first sizeable number of spring lambs (36 head) sold to £97 for an Annalong farmer with 20k from Newcastle at £84.50 or 420p/k. Over 700 Hoggets cleared up to £98 per head for a Cullion farmer with the top 10 lots from £96 to £98 each.

Grallagh farmer 26k at £96. Lisburn farmer 28k at £96. Ballyhatton farmer 25k at £94.50. South Armagh farmer 25k at £95 or 380p/k. Ballyveamore farmer 30 Hoggets 26k at £94.50. A larger entry on Friday sold in a good trade with a pen of weanling Ch calves from Kilkeel topping at £1130 for 484k.

A Banbridge farmer sold two Lim males at £800 for 322k. A 370k Sim from Annalong sold at £835. In the bullock section, a Hillsborough farmer sold a 616k Ch at £1270 and a 572k Ch at £1200. A smaller entry of heifers sold to £995 for a Ballymartin farmer. There was a good entry of calves as usual which cleared up to £360 for a Sim bull from Newry. A pen of Her heifer calves from Dechoment sold to £345. A pen of Her bull calves from Ardglass sold to £320. Springing suckler cows sold to £1100 for a Ballyroney farmer.
