The Northern Ireland Holstein Young Breeders’ Club has announced details of two forthcoming stockjudging practice events.

The first judging practice takes place on Saturday 28th February at George and David Simpson’s Damm Herd, 102 Tullynacross Road, Lisburn, BT27 5SG at 11am.

The second event on Thursday 26th March, will be hosted by Sam and John McCormick, Hilltara Herd, 25 Kerrs Road, Bangor, BT19 2QD at 7.30pm.

HYB co-ordinator Andrew Kennedy said: “After a quiet start to 2015, the forthcoming judging events mark the beginning of another busy year for members of the Northern Ireland Holstein Young Breeders’ Club. We are indebted to the Simpson and McCormick families for putting their herds and facilities at our disposal.

“Everyone is welcome. Our judging practice events give members an opportunity to brush up on their skills, while new members can get to grips with the finer points of dairy judging. Our mentors and master judges will also explain how to construct and deliver concise verbal reasons to back-up class placings.”

A linear judging practice will take place during the month of April. The date and venue has yet to be confirmed.
