Glanbia and Bord Bia are part of a 44-strong business delegation going to China with the EU’s Agriculture and Rural Development Commissioner, Phil Hogan, from 16 to 20 April.

Meanwhile, Ornua and the British-Irish Chamber of Commerce are part of the 40-strong delegation going to Japan in the days following, from 20 to 22 April.

In addition to the political discussions the Commissioner will be having with his counterparts, an important aspect of the visit to both countries will be promoting EU food and drink and facilitating business in the agri-food sector.

Amongst the various promotion events, Commissioner Hogan will launch “European Restaurant Week” in both Beijing and Tokyo.

Commissioner Hogan will be accompanied by a delegation of senior European executives representing key sectors in the EU trade with the two countries.

The visit will start in China (Shanghai and Beijing) from 16 to 20 April and will continue to Japan (Tokyo) between 20 and 22 April.
