Heavy lambs sell to £90 each at Markethill Mart

An entry of 1550 sheep at Markethill on Wednesday 12th October sold in a firm trade, particularly for stores.

Heavy lambs sold to £90 each with several pens from £80 to £84 each. Top rate of 335p per kilo was paid for 24.1 kilos at £80.80 each. The entire entry of heavy lambs averaged 25.5 kilos at £81.70 each (319p).

Good quality middleweight lambs sold to 354p per kilo for 23.2 kilos at £81.50 each. All good quality pens sold from 325p to 345p per kilo.

Light stores reached 415p per kilo for 13.5 kilos at £56 each. Main demand sold from 370p to 402p per kilo. Stronger stores sold to 402p per kilo for 17.3 kilos at £69.50 each.

Cull ewes sold to £82 each. Main demand sold from £65 to £79 each. Plainer ewes sold from £45 to £58 each.

Breeding hoggets sold to £128 each.
