TV presenter and gardening writer Toby Buckland visited CAFRE’s Greenmount Campus, Antrim recently in the run up to the annual Horticulture Lecture of the Year held in the Island Centre at Lisburn. Toby’s lecture this year was on “Plant Gems for your Garden”.

Toby runs a well established nursery and garden centre near to Exeter in Devon, and travels widely in pursuit of plants, gardening knowledge and stories for his writing.

CAFRE makes an annual tradition of hosting the celebrity guest speaker during the day, giving students an opportunity to meet horticulture experts from all over the British Isles, in addition to showcasing what they can achieve at the college.

On the day, Toby met staff and students at the college involved in activities such as plant varietal trials, hard landscaping exercises and sports turf care on the Greenkeeping and Golf Academy.
