An entry of 85 cull cows at Markethill on Tuesday 7th July resulted in a very strong trade.

The majority of the cows offered were heavy fleshed. A top price of £890 was paid for a 520k Lim cow (171). Main demand from £135 to £165 for 470k at £775. Fleshed Friesians to £151 for 560k at £845. All good quality Friesians from £112 to £137 per 100 kilos with a top price of £770 for 560k. Second quality Friesians from £92 to £122 per 100 kilos with the poorest types from £69 to £90 per 100 kilos.

CALVES

135 lots of calves were offered today in an improving trade. £475 was paid for a 12 week old Hereford. Main demand from £300 to £450. Strong Friesian bull calves sold to £235 with more from £180 to £200. Heifer calves to £450 for 12 week old Sim. Main demand from £230 to £335 each.
