MARTS: Markethill

An entry of 1000 sheep at Markethill on Wednesday 8th July sold in a much firmer trade for prime lambs. Cull ewe trade remained steady.

The 700 lambs were in good demand were in good demand which brought about a good improvement in trade.

LIGHT LAMBS

Both store lambs and light lambs were in good demand with 19 kilos at £70 and 15.65 kilos at £55. The entire entry of stores averaged 17.3 kilosat £58 each.

MIDDLEWEIGHT LAMBS

Middleweight lambs sold well with 22.6 kilos at £72.50 each and 22 kilos at £70.80 each. Main demand sold from 306p to 334p per kilo. The entire entry averaged 22 kilos at £68.80 (311p).

HEAVY LAMBS

Heavy lambs sold from £72 to £83.5. Top rate of 314p per kilo was paid for 24.1 kilos at £75.80 each. Good batches sold from 288p to 314p per kilo for heavy lambs. The entire entry averaged 25.4k at £73.80 290p per kilo.

FAT EWES

Another good entry of 250 cull ewes were in good demand and sold to £115 each. Main demand sold from £78 to £94 each. Plainer ewes sold from £53 to £70 each.
