An entry of 500 store cattle at Markethill on Saturday 22nd August sold in a further improved demand for all stock.

BULLOCKS

The 250 store bullocks included several pens of top quality stock. Forward steers sold to £210 for 580k at £1215. All good quality lots from £188 to £204 per 100 kilos. Top price £1320 for 740k. Good quality middleweights to £218 for 408k at £890. Main demand from £200 to £215 per 100 kilos. Lightweights from £205 to £242 for 302k at £740. Friesian steers returned a very good trade. Forward friesians from £145 to £160 for 544k at £870. Top price £1140 for 722k (150). Suitable middleweight friesians from £140 to £156 for 478k at £745.

The 125 cull cows at Markethill on Tuesday 25th August maintained a steady trade. Beef bred cows sold from £120 to £141 for 680k at £960. Top price £1050 for 858k Hereford cow. Fleshed frieisians from £100 to £116 for 710k at £820. Top price friesians £845 for 760k. Second quality friesians from £80 to £95 per 100 kilos with the poorest types from £55 to £70 per 100 kilos. Clean cattle to £200 for 470k at £940. Others from £150 to £168 per 100 kilos.
