Highlight of the sale at Markethill on Tuesday 29th September was £1680 paid for a calved Holstein heifer from a Kilkeel farmer.

The same owner received £1320 for a calved heifer. A Kilkeel producer received £1320, £1160 and £1060 for calved heifers. A Dromore farmer sold a calved 3rd calver at £1150. A Jerrettspass farmer received £1010 for a calved heifer.

CULL COWS

The 201 cull cows sold in a steady trade with fleshed beef-bred cows from £120 to £156 for 762k at £1190. Friesian cows sold from 395 to £107 for 688k at 3735. Younger types from £110 to £123 for 622k at 3765. Second quality Friesians from £75 to £90 per 100 kilos with the poorest types from £50 to £70 per 100 kilos.
