MARTS: Markethill

An entry of 1460 sheep at Markethill on Wednesday 30th September returned a noticeably firmer trade for heavy lambs. Store lambs and cull ewe trade was steady. Breeding hoggets were slower to clear.

Heavy lambs sold to £77.50 each for 26.6 kilos (291p). Several pens sold from £66 to £74 each. Main range sold from 260p to 283p per kilo for 24.6 kilos at £69.50 each.

Middleweight lambs sold to 328p per kilo for 20.7 kilos at £68 each. Main demand sold from 282p per kilo to 301p per kilo for 20.2 kilos at £60.80 each.

Light store lambs sold to 361p per kilo for 13.3 kilos at £48 each. Main demand sold from 300p to 350p per kilo. Heavier stores sold from 290p to 333p per kilo for 18 kilos at £60 each.

Cull ewes peaked at £80 each. Main demand sold from £58 to £76 each. Second quality ewes sold from £40 to £55 each.

Breeding hoggets sold to £132 each with several pens from £120 to £130 each.
