There was a terrific entry of cattle on Friday with 232 dropped and weanling calves in the entry. Dropped calves hit an all time high in price.

A Newry farmer: reached £440 for a Sim bull. A Dromore farmer sold a BB heifer at £435, a Her bull at £400 and a further 3 Her heifer calves at £400 each. A Dromara farmer reached £425 for Lim Heifers. Weanlings were an absolute flyer with 246k from Banbridge at £740 or 300.8p/k. A 266k Lim from Ballyward sold at £740. A Warrenpoint farmer: 282k at £765. Store heifers reached £950 for a Sheeptown farmer with a 270k Ch from Lisburn at £620 or 230p/k. Bullocks sold to £1155 for a Ch 578k from Lacken. A 460k Ch from Leitrim sold at £1040 or 226p/k. Fat cows sold to £900 for a 790k Hol from Dromara.

There was a massive entry of sheep on Tuesday evening, with 1,200 hoggets selling to £102 per head from a Downpatrick farmer. A pen of stores 18k from Clough sold to £73.50 or 432p/k. Fat ewes were a flying trade to £128 per head for a Kilcoo farmer. Two further lots of ewes sold at £125 per head for a Corbally and a Gransha (Dromara) farmer. Breeding ewes sold to £142 per head.
