Another full yard of cattle on Friday saw fat cows to £1190, breeding Sim bull £1550, bullocks to £1165 and heifers £1220.

Over 150 weanlings cleared up to £920 for a 484k Angus bullock from Moybrick Dromara with heifers to £940 for a 472k lot from Ballyward.

Store heifers sold to £1220, the highest price for heifers in several weeks.

Other heifers from Hillsborough, Dromore and Leitrim all sold at over £1000 each.

Very few Friesians in the entry of 150 bullocks resulting in a high average in this category.

The top 10 bullocks sold from £1085 to £1165. A Ballinran farmer averaged £1085 for 10 Ch bullocks. Fat cows excelled in price to £1190 for a Ballyward farmer. A Ballynahinch farmer reached £1040 for a Ch cow. A Breeding Sim bull sold at £1550. In the dropped calf section a 6 months old calf sold at £560 with a second lot at £500. Fr sturks sold to £370 for an Armagh farmer.

WEANLINGS: Moybrick farmer: 480k at £920. Mayobridge farmer: 444k at £810, 450k at £830 and 354k at £705. Ballyward farmer: 472k at £940, 304k at £650 and 310k at £625 and 350k at £700. SUCKLER SALE: The final sucker sale on Monday evening saw fewer animals, better quality and better prices. A Ballyward farmer sold 11 Ch to £820 for 350k with others at 370k at £815, 312k at £790, 366k at £790 and 384k at £780, 310k at £770 and 316k at £715 etc. Ballynorris farmer: 400k Hereford at £770. Ballykeel farmer: 388k at £770. Lurgan farmer: 286k at £665, 308k at £645, 284k at £635, 258k at £625, 272k at £605, 336k at £770 etc. Ballyward farmer: 292k at £590.

All classes of sheep were a better trade on Tuesday evening with heavy lots noticeably dearer. These sold freely to £80 per head for a Ringsend farmer with all heavy lots over the £70 mark e.g. Newry farmer: 28k at £74. Annaclone farmer: 2 lots at £72 each for 27k. Farmers from Downpatrick, Kilkeel, Warrenpoint and Poyntzpass all sold 21.5k at £71.50. A pen of 24 weanlings, 17k sold at £57.50 or 338p/k from Kilcoo. A pen of 23k from Ballynafoy sold at £69 etc. FAT EWES: A larger entry this week sold to a top of £93 for a Garvaghy farmer. Ballinaskeagh farmer: £86 for 22 ewes. Dromore farmer: £78 and £77. Leitrim farmer: £79 with fat rams to £93.
