North Shropshire College (NSC) has recently recruited a new assessor to support the growing Agricultural apprenticeships area.
Sian Spear has joined NSC after working in learner support and assessing at another college, Sian has worked in agriculture for many years including spending a year in New Zealand managing dairy farms.
Sian grew up on her family’s farm and still helps out, her family farm deer but used to produce sheep and beef. Sian has joined the college alongside new motor vehicle assessor, Julian Jones.
Sian studied agriculture at a Welsh agricultural college and completed an Open University land-based degree; she is involved in the Young Farmers and the local community in Mid Wales and Brecon and will be making links and getting involved in Shropshire. She is looking for placement opportunities for potential apprenticeships; it is a good time for new apprenticeships to start.
Sian commented: “I’m excited to be here, it’s different but same. It’ll be interesting to get to know a new area.”
