Following the meeting William Taylor, NI Farm Groups co-ordinator, commented: “Sinn Fein have been sympathetic to the idea of legislation on farm gate prices since the beginning over two years ago, however, they seem to have renewed vigour on the issue which was discussed in more detail, including details of the bill which has now got to draft stage and almost complete and will soon be ready for Stormont.

“Legislation on farm gate prices for Northern Ireland according to the Gosling Report, which was published in January 2016, would return 10-20,000 plus jobs, save Stormont £280 million in welfare costs and bring prosperity back to Northern Ireland.”

Northern Ireland Farm Groups will continue their round of meetings with the political parties and independents ahead of the election.
